Show & Share

Lynn-
I'm really not a flower-kind-of-girl, but lately, I love the new Prima flowers that Scrapaganza is carrying. Matter of fact, I've purchased TWO sets of them. Here's an example of my latest project and how I incorporated flowers as an added touch. Flowers soften the look of the pages, while adding both dimension, texture and blending well with other page elements.

For "License To Be Me" I used Primas and customized the centers using different stamped centers and round punches. Along with them, I made paper-punched flowers with mini-brad centers. I think the effect turned out great and both styles fit in well with my unique style of scrapping.

I love to use flowers on my layouts and scrapbooking projects. Some of my favorite flowers are made by Heidi Swapp. She makes large and small in all different colors. I also adore the felt flowers by American Crafts. I love to layer flowers on a page or project, or sometimes I just use one in just the perfect place on a layout.

Flowers are a staple in my supplies. I have all sizes, shapes & colors! I sometimes use fluid chalk on the edges to give depth. I have drizzled glossy or paper glaze on them. I have used crackle finish for an old timey look and made rain drops using crystal lacquer. Glitter or Stickles glitter is always fun too either in the center or brushed on the petals or petal tip. Liquid pearls also add a nice touch. The center is fun to embellish also. I have used brads, jewelry, beads, ribbons alone or with a charm or small tag attached, buttons and swarovski crystals. I have looped embroidery floss, placed it under whatever I am placing in the center of the flower then snipped the loops of the floss for a shaggy look. I have stamped on flowers with non- descript wording. You can also use a punched shape of coordinating paper and use embossing powder. Sometimes I stack different flowers together or sometimes I use a small yellow or green flower in the center. I might use one flower or tons of flowers. Flowers are good for hiding a boo boo also.

Flowers are a great way to embellish a page. They work with almost any subject matter and come in so many sizes and colors. I use them as a focal point or just to fill in a spot on the page that just looks like it needs something. I like to layer flowers and use various brads, buttons, punches, ribbons and/or rub-ons for the flower centers. It's easy to apply a rub-on, chalk or ink to the petals. Flowers add nice dimension, texture and color to a layout.

I am a girly girl! I love flowers! I usually have some form of flower on about anything I do! Here are two "different" examples. In the first one, I made flowers using toilet paper rolls and plastic grocery sack centers. The second is using the Heidi Swapp (my favorite) flowers. I used the big silk folded in half, with a ghost flower stapled right on top. (the ghost was painted with Stickles-Star Dust)
We would love to see how you use flowers. If you have any examples please e-mail them to scrapaganzaonline@gmail.com Thank you, have a great week!

What? Nothing about the BIG garage sale. It was crazy Friday. I did not get a chance to get back in over the weekend. Hope it went well.
Now on to the flowers! I love em, but I have 2 boys and it's hard to work them into a lo on those 2. I have one girl, but she's not girly girl, so again hard to work them in on her lo's. I am waiting for Prima's embossed flowers though, I'll find somewhere to use them.

I luv using flowers on my projects. The big Hedi Swap are my fav. I ususally use buttons(clear) for the center. I also like to cut out a bunch of patterned paper flowers and then stick a few prima on top, it kinda gives a nice layerd look. I do sometimes have a hard time trying to use the lil prima flowers on my layouts. thinking that if not just in the right place the layout willl look off balance. Im excited to see that next club is all about flower power and cant wait to get new ideas for one of my fav supplies!!
