Lynn-
I'm really not a flower-kind-of-girl, but lately, I love the new Prima flowers that Scrapaganza is carrying. Matter of fact, I've purchased TWO sets of them. Here's an example of my latest project and how I incorporated flowers as an added touch. Flowers soften the look of the pages, while adding both dimension, texture and blending well with other page elements.

For "License To Be Me" I used Primas and customized the centers using different stamped centers and round punches. Along with them, I made paper-punched flowers with mini-brad centers. I think the effect turned out great and both styles fit in well with my unique style of scrapping.

Kim-
I love to use flowers on my layouts and scrapbooking projects. Some of my favorite flowers are made by Heidi Swapp. She makes large and small in all different colors. I also adore the felt flowers by American Crafts. I love to layer flowers on a page or project, or sometimes I just use one in just the perfect place on a layout.

Deb-
Flowers are a staple in my supplies. I have all sizes, shapes & colors! I sometimes use fluid chalk on the edges to give depth. I have drizzled glossy or paper glaze on them. I have used crackle finish for an old timey look and made rain drops using crystal lacquer. Glitter or Stickles glitter is always fun too either in the center or brushed on the petals or petal tip. Liquid pearls also add a nice touch. The center is fun to embellish also. I have used brads, jewelry, beads, ribbons alone or with a charm or small tag attached, buttons and swarovski crystals. I have looped embroidery floss, placed it under whatever I am placing in the center of the flower then snipped the loops of the floss for a shaggy look. I have stamped on flowers with non- descript wording. You can also use a punched shape of coordinating paper and use embossing powder. Sometimes I stack different flowers together or sometimes I use a small yellow or green flower in the center. I might use one flower or tons of flowers. Flowers are good for hiding a boo boo also.

Flowers are a great way to embellish a page. They work with almost any subject matter and come in so many sizes and colors. I use them as a focal point or just to fill in a spot on the page that just looks like it needs something. I like to layer flowers and use various brads, buttons, punches, ribbons and/or rub-ons for the flower centers. It's easy to apply a rub-on, chalk or ink to the petals. Flowers add nice dimension, texture and color to a layout.

I am a girly girl! I love flowers! I usually have some form of flower on about anything I do! Here are two "different" examples. In the first one, I made flowers using toilet paper rolls and plastic grocery sack centers. The second is using the Heidi Swapp (my favorite) flowers. I used the big silk folded in half, with a ghost flower stapled right on top. (the ghost was painted with Stickles-Star Dust)
We would love to see how you use flowers. If you have any examples please e-mail them to scrapaganzaonline@gmail.com Thank you, have a great week!

This week's topic is SCALLOPED PAPERS...

Kelly-
I used scalloped paper for the first time a couple of months ago. I found myself cutting it apart to take the scallops off the edges and using the edges as decorative borders. It's so much easier to trim off the edge than to use a punch, or cut it by hand to get the same look. By accident, I found that if you cut the scallop across the paper (from one side to the other) it leaves a perfectly rounded cylinder shape for borders, journaling, or just makes another great layering piece. What I have really gotten into lately are the scalloped shapes. I love the circles. Cut them in half and place one half on each side of a two page spread. It makes the pages balance each other very nicely.

Beth-
I think some papers really lend themselves to using scalloped paper. I like to use it with paper that has a circular pattern to it. And with so many colors…you can match almost anything! I also just learned to make scallops with my corner rounder by taking the guard off and putting the paper straight in. This way, I can make scallops with any paper.

Ashleigh-

The scalloped paper is one of the latest products that I just can't get enough off. It is my favorite paper to use with cards! I just love using the different rectangle colors and folding them in half. They fit in a 6x6 envelope perfectly! I also love the way the girls have used the different shapes on the layouts throughout the store! Come on in and check them out!

Deb-
Love the scalloped paper. I like tucking small sections in here and there. Sometimes I cut a strip to create a border, punched it & tied ribbon thru the punches. I have inked, stacked & offset more than one scalloped strip to create a layered look. I have used it as a template to create scallops on printed paper. Lots of fun uses.

Megan-
I have used the MM glaze & highlighted the scallops. I have used it under other paper to give a layered look. HUUMM?? It is nice in a card, just fold the rectangle pieces, 6 x 12 in half & voila! an instant card!

Penny-
Not only are scalloped papers great on their own, but you can punch holes in each one (cool with small scallops) or other punch shapes (a heart that fit in each one is a cute idea.) You can use a scalloped paper as a template on printed paper, and make your own, you can trace the scallops onto another paper and then place rhinestones, brads &/or flowers along this line and have a sweet border or frame... Scalloped edges can be inked, painted or distressed. And be sure to check out all the great shaped of cardstock too, like huge tags, flowers, scalloped hearts, etc!

Let us know what you think... How do YOU use scalloped paper?
